Welcome to Specialty Shepherds and thank you for visiting my website. I am located in Central Florida in the city of Avon Park. I am located about 80 miles south of Orlando and about 145 miles north of Miami.
Here at Specialty Shepherds I have acres of open fields with plenty of woods for our long walks, and there are several ponds for the dogs to enjoy a cool swim on those hot afternoons, after plenty of exercise.
I’ve been raising and breeding German Shepherds for the past twelve years and there is no better companion or working dog. I’ve always strived to give my dogs a loving family environment in a natural country setting, and all of my dogs are valued family members. Once they’re retired they remain here with me to live out their natural lives. Raising my dogs is a hobby. It is not a business or a large kennel and I only breed and focus all of my attention on the German Shepherd dog.
My goal in breeding is to improve the breed by producing quality German Shepherds who will be loyal companions, able to work and to be protective friends. They should also be mentally healthy, physically sound, intelligent, and have lots of character and personality.
After each breeding dog is acquired they are seen by an orthopedic vet for a thorough examination, then they are PennHip and OFA. Then, once they turn two, they will be officially OFA for both H & E. They are seen regularly by my local vet and are fed a good quality dry food incorporated with some raw feeding from the local deer harvest each year.
I register my dogs and puppies with the American Kennel Club (AKC) with a non breeding contract (removeable). The puppies will be microchipped, and will have their first inoculations between 7 and 8 weeks of age, and will be dewormed at least once and possibly twice, all given by my vet. The puppies will come with a two (2) year genetics guarantee.
